Thread Lifting

As we age it is natural that the tissue and skin on our face will start to sag with the weakening of the muscles, ligaments and reduction in collagen. Di Nik at Dolce Vita Skin offers the latest minimally invasive alternative to a face lift – the Thread Lift.

PDO Thread Lift

The PDO Thread Lift is a treatment which lifts and tightens sagging skin tissue, using threads made of Polydioxanone (PDO). While there are many different types of thread lifts available, the PDO Thread Lift is amongst the most popular today. The threads are made in South Korea, and it is one of the most commonly performed skin lifting procedures today.

The threads are introduced into the deeper layers of the skin, using a special needle. Once introduced, the threads produce three effects in the skin:

  1. Instant Skin Lifting through mechanical effects
  2. Cellular Renewel, through Collagen stimulation, and neovascularisation to improve skin texture, fine lines and elasticity
  3. Skin Tightening, by contracting fat tissue

About 6-12 months after the procedure, the PDO threads will disappear through simple hydrolysis (they are absorbable). The lifted facial contours will remain for about 3-6 months more, due to the cellular rejuvenation effects. Your skin cells are stimulated to produce new collagen, and new blood vessels to improve skin microcirculation. At the same time, the PDO Thread Lift treatment causes the fat tissue to contract, producing a skin tightening and facial slimming effect.

The cost for a thread lift varies, as it depends on the individual requirements and treatment. PDO Thread Lift treatment costs start from $1980. A consultation with Dr Nik at his Central Coast rooms will help determine the exact cost based on a customised treatment plan.

The PDO Thread Lift is very versatile, allowing practically all areas of the face to be treated, including the:

  • Undereye area
  • Eyebrows
  • Crow’s feet (wrinkles around eyes)
  • Cheeks
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Naso jugal folds
  • Wrinkles around mouth
  • Jaw line
  • Jowls
  • Neck

Thread Lift FAQs

How does a thread lift work?

The threads are inserted into the deeper layers of the skin and lift sagging tissue.

The threads dissolve over six months as new fibrous connective tissue grows around them, and they also trigger the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin, which lasts for around 2-3 years.

Am I a candidate for a thread lift?

The best candidates are men and women in their 30s and beyond who have mild to moderate drooping, lines, and wrinkles in the forehead, face and/or neck.

Patients must also be in good overall health. A thread lift is best suited for those who want to enhance their appearance without resorting to face lift surgery.

What are PDO threads made of?

PDO threads are made of Polydioxanone, a clinically proven material used in surgical sutures. It’s the preferred material as it naturally and safely breaks down and dissolves in the body.

Can you see the threads after the procedure?

The threads are clear and cannot be seen once they are inserted deep under the skin.

How long does treatment take?

The thread lift procedure usually takes around 45-60 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated.

How long after the procedure will I see results?

You will notice an immediate improvement right after your thread lift. Optimal results will begin show over 2-6 months as collagen production is stimulated. The threads will dissolve over six months, but the results will be maintained for much longer.

How long do results last?

This varies depending on the patient’s age at the time of treatment, the quality of the skin, the degree of sagging and the number of threads used. However, results have been known to last 2-3 years.
